Cross Country Carnival

20.08.21

Wonderful weather was the beginning of a sensational day for our students. On Wednesday, 18  August a selected team of St Martin de Porres Students (from Year 3 to Year 6) headed to the East Parklands where we setup on the Prince Alfred College Oval to compete in the annual 2021 SACPSSA Cross Country Day.

Our students have shown magnificent determination by continually attending Friday morning trainings in rain, fog and sunny conditions allowing all students to continually improve and reduce their time on the 2km cross country run.

We were successfully able to take home four pennents for the following divisions, these can be seen hanging up at the front of our school hall.
-  Year 3 Girls Divison C pennent winners
-  Year 4 Girls Divison C pennent winners
-  Year 5 Boys Divison C pennent winners
-  Year 5 Boys Divison A pennent winners

A special mention to the following runners who all finished in the Top 4 of their respective races.
-  Year 3 Girls Divison C  |  2nd J. Bourne
-  Year 4 Girls Divison C  |  1st C. Wall, 2nd M. D'Souza, 3rd I. Blackhurst
-  Year 5 Boys Divison C  |  2nd S. Maddigan-Wilkes, 4th M. Lunn
-  Year 5 Girls Divison B  |  4th A. Zefi
-  Year 6 Girls Division B  |  1st N. Byrnes
-  Year 6 Girls Division C  |  1st L. Paterson
-  Year 6 Boys Division B  |  4th S. Dias-Cocks

All students should be incredibly proud of their efforts!

A huge thank you goes out to the parents for bringing students to our early morning Friday trainings. It was wonderful to have some many parents undertake the run with us.

I look forward to having high numbers again attending trials and competing at the 2022 SACPSSA Cross Country Day.
