Catholic Schools Music Festival Choir

13.05.20

Sixteen of our Year 5 and 6 students will represent our school in the Catholic Schools Music Festival this year. Sadly, the Festival Theatre performances will not go ahead in September but there will still be a combined school performance event. This will be in the form of ahour long online performance that will be recorded at a combined school event in Term 3.

Our Choir has been busy rehearsing each week, working on a challenging and varied repertoire of songs and learning some choreography. The group have already had two visits from the Conductor/Director of the Festival, Ms Denise Rothall, to help students improve their singing and learn the songs.

I am very proud of the sound the students are making, along with their enthusiasm and efforts. There is a lot of learning that goes on in choir sessions, even just in how to follow the choir book with its many parts, signs and symbols. Listening skills and concentration are also developed along with the many social and emotional benefits of teamwork, experiencing the joy of music and feeling that sense of achievement.

More information about the online event will be forwarded later in the year.

Well done choir and keep up the great work!
