On Wednesday, 6 April to Friday, 8 April the Year 6 cohort had the amazing opportunity in visiting Willow Creek Adventure camp in Victor Harbour for their Year 6 camp. Students were able to experience sleeping under the stars in tents on the large cattle property surrounded by the Australian bush. The camp boasted an incredible array of activities with the support of the Surf and Sun company and Beyond the Classroom, in which all students participated in. These included surfing at Middleton Beach, Mountain Bike Riding through John Crompton Reserve, Absailing down the Bluff at Rosetta Head, Kayaking and Raft Building on Encounter Lakes, a nature bush walk and Team Building games. The chef cooked up a storm each night with lasagna, salad and garlic bread and Nachos followed by dessert. Students chatted around the camp fire about their full days and accomplishments each night before participating in a quiz night and talent show!
The whole experience was nothing short of amazing. The Year 6 students' resilience, bravery, manners, support for one another, compassion, gratitude and good hearted attitudes allowed for each child to flourish and step outside their comfort zones with plenty of laughs along the way. We are beyond proud of each and every one of the students as they truly demonstrated what it means to be our school leaders at St Martin de Porres for 2022.
We are sure the memories they have created will last a lifetime!
