The value of service was the focus for today’s Whole School Positive Education Day. The day was about acting selflessly giving time and effort, to benefit others within the school or broader community. The value of Service embodies a sense of responsibility, empathy, and active engagement in making a positive difference.
The students today collected resources, organised donations, made treats to give and sell, taught younger students a new skill and cleaned up the surrounding neighbourhood. A great sense of community was felt by all.
Year level activities included:
Reception: Donations for Backpacks 4 SA Kids
Year 1: Donations and making of boxes for Treasure Box Charity
Year 2: Donations and making of boxes for Shoeboxes of Love
Year 3: Enjoyed some baking of Honey Crackles to sell at lunch time to students in the School with profits going to St Vincent de Paul.
Year 4: Donations and making of boxes for Treasure Box Charity
Year 5: Year 5 students gave their time and service to their buddies (1JC, 2JM, 2OB) and taught them a new skill.
Year 6: Year 6 students went for a walk locally to clean up/collect rubbsish from the community surroundings.
A special thanks to the specialist teachers who provided a hot lunch for the rest of the staff.
