Happy Book Week. What an amazing week it was... Assembly, Golden Tickets, Book Swap, Colour In Competition, Book Mark Making, Read Aloud Teacher Swap, Book Scavenger Hunt, Classroom and Lunch Activies and of course, the Dress Up Parade.
As with all Book Weeks, there's a specific theme that the entire week is centred around. This theme is the core, and viewing a child's relationship with literature in light of the theme can offer a world of insight. For Book Week 2023, the theme is "Read, Grow, Inspire." The theme of "Read, Grow, Inspire" is focused on how literature has the capacity to develop a child's inner world and how it can plant the seed of inspiration for them to express their own creativity. In this manner, children are almost like plants and literature is the sun, the soil, and the water. With good literature, your students can grow and flourish. This not only celebrates the wonderful relationship between children and books but also honours the authors and the role they play in a childs development.
Book Week kicked off with an Assembly hosted by "Mr Willy Wonka". The children learnt about what Book Week is and were told all the exciting things they could experience during the week. As he does every year, Mr Willy Wonka, launched his 'Golden Tickets'; where he hides up to 10 Gold Tickets around the School each day, and for those that find a ticket, they get to exchange their ticket for a book from his Book Week Library. As always, the excitment of students finding tickets and swapping it for a book of their choice brings such joy.
Students participated in many Book Week activities throughout the week in class and during lunch, but it was on Friday that our School was awash with colour and excitement for the annual Book Week Parade. The creativity, colour and participation by all this year was outstanding. Thank you to the school community for your attendance at the Parade on Friday and supporting this wonderful event.
A big thank you to Mrs Ingrid Garton, Mrs Sally Zollner and our amazing staff for their tireless work to bring the magic of books to life.
