Our Year 6 students had a day of Faith, friends and fun as they participated in Day 1 of the (2022) “Journey to Emmaus” Retreat Day Program at Christ the King School with students from McAuley, Stella Maris, St Bernadette’s and Christ the King.
The children engaged with the message that their own journey towards graduation and high school mirrors that of Jesus’ journey to Emmaus, and were asked to consider how Jesus is walking with us on this journey. The Journey to Emmaus story has the disciples not able to recognise Jesus as the stranger they were walking with, and the children were asked to consider the students from other schools are in fact friends they have not recognised yet.
Students got to mix and get to know the children from McAuley Community School, St Bernadette’s Primary School, Stella Maris Parish School and Christ the King School as they gathered in small discussion groups, whole group sessions and engaged in playtimes together.
It was a very successful and fun filled day, and everyone is looking forward to Days 2 and 3 later in the year.
